What ShirtMath does

ShirtMath indexes garment measurements that retailers and manufacturers publish, compares them against a garment you already own, and shows you how each one differs in inches. When you choose to buy, it sends you to the retailer. The transaction, the payment, the shipping and the return are between you and that retailer, under their terms — ShirtMath is not a party to it.

Measurements are information, not a guarantee

This is the most important clause on the page, so it is stated plainly rather than buried.

• Catalogue measurements reflect what sellers publish. They can contain the seller's own errors, and manufacturing tolerance means two garments of the same size are not identical. Published specifications carry a stated variance, typically around a third to four fifths of an inch.
• Measurements marked "estimated" are projections derived from related garments, not tape measurements, and are labelled as such everywhere they appear.
• Scanner measurements are experimental estimates. The scanner leaves a measurement blank when it cannot read it confidently rather than guessing. Its accuracy is described on the methodology page in the product's own words.
• No fit is guaranteed. A close numerical match is a well-founded prediction, not a promise that a garment will suit you.

Use the numbers as a strong guide and check anything that matters before buying.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up. You may delete your account at any time from account settings; the privacy policy describes exactly what deletion removes. Accounts may be suspended for the misuse described below.

Acceptable use

Do not use ShirtMath to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to interfere with the service. Specifically: no automated scraping or bulk extraction of the measurement database beyond ordinary browsing; no attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication or access controls; no uploading of content you do not have the right to upload; no uploading of photographs of people, since the scanner is for garments laid flat and does not need them. Reasonable citation of published figures, with attribution, is welcome and encouraged.

Content and intellectual property

The site's text, design, code and compiled measurement tables belong to ShirtMath. Brand names, product names and published size charts belong to their respective owners and are referenced here for identification and comparison; no affiliation or endorsement is implied by naming a brand as a data source.

Availability

The service is provided as it stands. Features change, data is updated, and parts of the product are explicitly experimental — the scanner says so on its own screen. There is no guarantee of uninterrupted availability, and pre-launch features may change or be withdrawn.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, ShirtMath is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site, including a garment that does not fit, a purchase you regret, or a retailer's handling of an order. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
