Privacy policy

ShirtMath works from garment measurements, not from you. Most of what the site knows never leaves your browser, and everything an account does store can be exported or deleted from the account settings.

What ShirtMath stores if you never sign in

You can use the site without an account. In that case your closet, your reference garment, saved searches and display preferences are written to your browser's local storage on your own device. They are not sent to a ShirtMath server, and clearing your browser data removes them permanently. A signed, http-only cookie is used to keep an anonymous session consistent and to apply rate limits — it identifies a browser, not a person.

What an account stores

Creating an account stores, on ShirtMath's servers: the email address you sign up with (or the account identifier your sign-in provider returns), a hashed password if you set one, the garments in your closet with their measurements, your survey answers and fit preferences, the outfits you save, and a record of which recommendations were shown to you and which you interacted with. That last record is what allows the system to improve what it shows you; it is described plainly rather than hidden because it is the part people care about.

Exporting and deleting

Account settings offer an export, which returns everything above in a machine-readable file, and a deletion. Deletion removes your account and the personal records attached to it — closet, profile, preferences, saved outfits, recommendation and click history. Commercial bookkeeping records that must survive for audit are stripped of any link back to you rather than kept intact. Deletion is immediate and is not reversible.

Scan photos

When you scan a garment, the photo is uploaded so it can be measured, and the measurements — not the photograph — are what the product uses afterwards. The scanner is described in full on the methodology page.

Cookies and third parties

ShirtMath sets its own session cookie, described above. Beyond that:

ShirtMath does not run advertising trackers, does not sell personal data, and does not build profiles for anyone else's use.

Analytics

No third-party analytics product is installed on this site at the time of writing. If one is added, this section will name it and say what it collects before it goes live.

Children

ShirtMath is not directed at children and accounts are not knowingly created for anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and it will be removed.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be reflected here with the verification date at the top of the page updated. The mechanism for updating it is the same build pipeline that publishes every other page, so the date is meaningful rather than decorative.

Getting in touch

Privacy questions, export problems, deletion requests and photo-removal requests all go through the contact page. The terms of use cover the rest of the relationship — what the measurements are, what an account allows, and where liability sits.

Nothing here needs your body measurements. ShirtMath measures the shirt, not you — scan one and see.
